The aim of the trial was to assess the capability and precision of the IoT Device Discovery modules &#8211; in coordination with the IoT Device Indexing module &#8211; to detect and track different elements present at the factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concretely, two variants of the Device Discovery module were implemented and tested. The first one is based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, consisted of five UWB anchor devices deployed in the area as references and a UWB tag deployed on an Autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV). Such a sub-system implemented all necessary algorithms to estimate the position (every 5s) and communicate it to the Device Indexing module, deployed on the Edge. The second one was based on Computer Vision, and it was proved to successfully identify and track different visual elements, such as AGVs, workers and carts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, i2CAT is working in further features for the IoT Device Discovery module to provide improved tracking and discovery, and is developing an AR application to provide enriched global situational awareness (e.g., info about sensors and elements being detected) and improve safety in the working areas.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I2CAT and Bosch have successfully deployed an initial prototype of the IoT-NGIN platform in the Bosch premises located in Aranjuez (Madrid), as part of the Industrial 4.0 use case.
